I'm a member her, but cant remember login details.... Anyway, this camera is a little over-rated and under-discussed. I've just bought it from John Lewis for less than half the review price - which is good.... but the camera should never have been that price. The 'FULL HD' video is most definitely NOT. I am replacing a damaged Samsung WB2000 camera which is 3+ yrs old and upto 1080i... and absolutely trounces this camera in video.... this one is juddery, pixellated - it looks like you've taken a HD movie then compressed it to an 720p MP4 then upscaled it again and converted it using more post processing.... it looks digital, not natural. Diagonals have jagged edges, the autofocus is VERY slow and leaves you with blurred video whilst you move the camera, the zoom mechanism is not muted to very loud scratching as you zoom in and out.... I would not accept this quality of video above a 100 pound camera - seriously. My panasonic FX33 from 6 years ago was better than this. So far as for picture quality, again at 100% zoom on screen you can see jagged edges and pixellation to an extent not evident on my 10MP camera I'm replacing. I can't seem to find a setting for detemining picture brightness (metering?) the camera seems to set the pictures up based on the brightest part of the picture..so your actual subjects end up too dark.... At the price I paid - 169 pounds, it's probably OK as a backup camera. The free leather case is also badly designed - missed opportunity to make it a flip out without needing to remove camera from case.. but no, you have to remove it completely, there is no clip to attach to the camera strap and because lens is manual you have to chuck the case on the floor when you take a pic or shove it annoyingly into a pocket so you have your other hand free to work the lens. This is an ill thought out and overpriced camera and this is clear in the lead balloon retail prices.... though that is mainly due to the querky yet interesting manual zoom - which is actually a nod to the future I think as it removes a motor and is much more accurate and rapid. Also, considering this has a sensor much bigger than average and also bigger than the 'bigger than average' category.... they have failed to make the best of it. What a waste of an opportunity. This is a 'minimal' retro machine and should be super easy to pick up and go. It isn't.
