Is this a review? What the final score?

Comment:

no, it’s a preview – see tab above the top picture. I think even TR would admit the site has a few ‘issues’.

I am glad it is an “incremental improvement”, new technology usually takes a few versions before they get it right. I am looking forward to a full review.

How does the 2D picture quality of this TV compare with the pre-production OLED TVs from LG & Samsung? I’m just curious to know how the best of current technology compares to the early samples of next gen technology?

Hmm, the more I see the prices of the top-end tellys the more I’m inclined to go with a projector for my next purchase. I have the version of this TV from a couple of generations ago (9702 I think) and it is indeed excellent, but my understanding is that £5k will get you a fab projector these days (okay, probably another couple of grand for a screen too). I think that would produce a massive and lovely picture? Given that like a good many people I suppose, I don’t use the TV’s internal speakers at all, don’t use it for online services (interesting to see they’re still cack even on this year’s model) and couldn’t give a hoot about 3D, I can’t see how I’d ever justify upgrading from my current telly to another telly. Unless OLED somehow gets big, great and cheap very soon.

Comment:

This TV has dirty screen effects: permanent dark shadows on the screen. Philips cannot solve this problem, even after 30 calls, visits and mails. And a new TV. Horrible.
