This lens works very well as both a macro lens and a portrait lens. As others have said, you need to get very close for macro, but once you do, you get very sharp features and great color.

Very sharp. I wish the focal length was a bit longer, though. 30mm requires you to get too close to the subject, which sometimes causes the lens or camera body to cast a shadow over it.

I’ve finally got around to trying this macro lens after getting it for Christmas.As much as I liked my Canon 100mm, this one does a very good job and is a worthy competitor. The more light the better though. Attached are what I did with some extra lights and on a tripod.

I found this lens very easy to use! The macro capability is very good as far as I am concerned and it performed very well in low light situations both indoor and outdoors. In my opinion there are no cons to cause you not to purchase this lens .
